First time I ever used a fryer. I have to admit it definately earned it's 5-star rating. The safety features are noteable: it has a magnetic power cord and the heating element must be in place (as instructed) for it to work. The controls are simple enough, however I wish you had the option not to set the timer, which is mandatory for it to start heating. Be advised it takes a good half-gallon of oil so you will want to invest in a club-size bottle. My first use? Breaded onion rings to die for! (I use Drake's Crispy FryMix) Clean-up is a snap except for the basket. I soak it in soapy water a bit then use a bristle brush - (it will tear up your sponges). You can opt to store the oil in the unit, but I preferred to utilize the super-cool spigot feature so I could filter the oil for next time.
